MAN TGE Water collection

Hi all. I have been converting a MAN TGE Lwb super high van. Recently the passenger (UK) side cup holder has been collecting water. It seems to be dripping from the grab handle on the A pillar. I cannot find an obvious leak but wonder if it could be caused by a missing strip of insulation directly above the windscreen line.

I have souls insulated the aero roof above the Cab area but left about 6-8 inches above the windscreen due to access and not taking out the headliner.

Does anyone have any other ideas or experience of this happening?

Thanks
🙏

I think it's most likley caused by the high level rear brake light, there is a TPI for it. We've had ours done.
Find the VW Grand California groups/ FB, everyone gets the leak into the cup holder. Your roof looks like mine.

Wow! Thanks. That’s seems like a pretty definite answer cheers. I just don’t know how it could track for the rear brake light to the front, knowing how it’s all built. I had the van as a bare panel van. What’s a TPI?I assume it’s a recall inspection type activity? 😊

Water running down the A pillars is a common problem due to condensation above the cab headlining. I have seen it in my TGE when the weather is exceptionally cold. It has also been reported by owners of Grand Californias.

It can be minimised/eliminated by fully insulating the cab area, and ventilating the van in cold weather to get rid of moist air.

Thanks for the responses. Think I'll remove the cab headliner (which is a pain!) and insulate the last bit of roof above the windscreen as seen in the picture. Then keep an eye on it over the next few months to see what happens, before tackling the GRP sealant (which does look like it could have aged and become porous!).

Thanks
