DVLA acceptance as a Motor Caravan

This thread has been created in an attempt to answer @Raul a/3 the question asked on another motorhome forum.

The DVLA form V1006 was completed and submitted to the DVLA along with the following pictures as proof that our TGE matched their criterion for registering as a Motor Caravan by the DVLA which was eventually accepted in April 2024. There was some toing and froing with letters as I tried to get it through without the graphics and then that they didn't recognise the said graphics. I followed the latter with an extra photograph of the graphics and insisted that if the person receiving my application escalated it to a senior person, that worked!
The VIN, Registration mark and photo location have been removed for obvious reasons.

The graphic was obtained from a Google search and cost less that £40 for both sides, it's fitted on to the glass so that if it becomes tattered it will come off without marking any paintwork and obviously won't get replaced.

Maybe we got them to accept ours by proving that there were windows in the rear by sending photos taken from inside.
Rule of thumb seems to be tell them to escalate your application if the receiving person didn't agree.

Welcome to the Motor Caravan club. We found the process to be straight forward. 10 days from posting the form and pictures to receiving confirmation the van was not officially a Motor Caravan.

Did yours comply with the DVLA form V1006 ? When ours did and me challenging their reasoning it was accepted without further question.

Yes, we were fully compliant with the criteria. We almost messed up but not writing all the requested information on the back of each photo. Luckily, my wife spotted my error :-). Thankfully, we didn't need to do anything after submitting the form and photo's.

Sorry, I understood from your reply that they had NOT accepted your application.
