Morning guys
So I have a 2025 man tge and noticed a pump running under the bonnet for no apparent reason ?? open the door and it stops, close the door and it timed starts again.
The other morning i opened the van up to get some bits out and didn’t lock it 3hrs later walking past on the drive I noticed this pump running ??the other evening after being in and out of the van a few times in the daytime I noticed it running at 11pm it’s driving me nuts .

sticking my head under the bonnet the hose into the rhs metal box on the engine (egr cooler)???? Seems to be connected to said pump?
Can anyone pls check if there van does the same thing on a 2025 model?
Stupid things flattening the battery constantly,
this is ontop of the all the modules that wake up on the latest model vans when you unlock them .
I originally thought it was the tracker flattening the battery until i found this pump running for no reason
Thanks in advance hope someone else with a late van can shed some light on this problem?

I have a MY 2025 (built 11-2024) and it has something under the bonnet that's alive at times, it doesn't drain the battery as fast as yours though.

I have replied in the other topic too. If the pump is running after locking, unlock, wait 10 seconds or so and lock again and it stops.

I've got a 25 plate man van and im in the same boat. I've logged a complaint with Man but nothing has happened yet. maybe if more people complain to them they may listen. there is going to be many man vans with the bonnet up on campsites! ha ha

Did you get any further with this?

I believe there is a dealer recall on this problem which may involve them updating the software in a number of modules in the vehicle.

From a Facebook thread on the subject...

## VW P3VL Campaign Update — Summary

The **P3VL** is a **software-only service campaign** released by Volkswagen on **March 27, 2026**. It affects **Crafter** vehicles (model years 2025–2027) and, by extension, the **Grand California** motorhome models built on the Crafter platform.

---

The Problem

On some affected vehicles, the **water circulation pumps switch on unintentionally** when a door is opened on a parked vehicle. This causes unnecessary current draw from the starter battery, which can drain it flat overnight — even without any obvious consumer being left on.

---

### What Is Updated — No Parts Are Replaced

This campaign involves **purely software updates** — no physical pumps or modules are physically replaced. Depending on the current software version of your vehicle, the following **control units receive a software update**:

| Control Unit | Affected Criteria |
|---|---|
| **Engine Control Unit (ECU)** | All vehicles (all criteria) |
| **Auxiliary Air Heater control** | Older vehicles (Criterion 01) |
| **Transmission Control Unit** | Newer model series (Criteria 03–05) |
| **On-board Network Gateway** | Newer model series (Criteria 03–05) |
| **Central Comfort Control Unit** | Newer model series (Criteria 03–05) |
| **Radar Sensors** | Newer model series (Criteria 03–05) |

---

### Which Criterion Applies to Your Van?

Volkswagen classifies vehicles into five criteria based on their current software version:

| Criterion | Vehicle Type | Software Version | Workshop Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 01 | Crafter & Grand California | PV3 | ~5 hours |
| 02 | Crafter & Grand California | PV4 / PV4RC2 | ~4 hours |
| 03 | Crafter (closed & open body) | PV5.0 | ~7 hours |
| 04 | Grand California | PV5.0 | ~7 hours |
| 05 | Crafter & Grand California | PV5.1 | ~4 hours |

---

### What You Need to Do

- **The update is free of charge.** VW should notify you by phone or post if your vehicle is affected.
- You can confirm whether your specific van is affected by providing your **chassis/VIN number** to your VW dealer.
- The campaign runs until **June 30, 2031**, so there is no immediate urgency, but it is advisable to have it done to avoid unexpected battery drain.
