Thought we could recommend campsites - charged for or free.
Perhaps based on :
Location
Things to do
Walks/cycles
And most important pubs!!

Based on 5 stars = "has it all"
1 star = "don't bother"

We love camc site at Knaresborough
Has it all.
Pub/restaurant on site
Great pub 1/2 mile away.
Great walks - Nidd gorge.
Can cycle to Harrogate (some hills!) and Ripley.
Fountains Abbey not too far away.

Recommend a foreign site....instead?

UK and Europe but add a 'Value for money' rating as well.

We don't visit UK sites unless we have to as we don't like campsites in general and what there are are much too expensive for what we want for an overnight stop.

Our preference is always wild or European Aires, Stellplatz or similar.

The camc site in Melrose is good.
Opp rugby club.
Middle of town

We use Search for Sites to find the places that we like to use for over-night parking and camp sites throughout Europe.

There are a number of other websites offering similar information.

Castleton Derbyshire CMC site. Lovely location, short walk into Castleton. Plenty of Cafes, pubs lovely walks around the village.

Off to Bolton Abbey next weekend......great walk up river valley to Appletreewick where there is a truly great pub.....The Craven Arms.

Yep......Bolton Abbey CAMC great.
Didn't make pub due to weather.
Walked up Desolation Valley to Simons Seat....great walk and back around to site.
Great for walking but v hilly for biking...unless you've gone electric!!

Glanllyn near Bala, North Wales, has to be the most beautifully located holiday venue you have ever visited in the UK. We are located in the Snowdonia National Park.

Just been to Lower Wensleydale near Leyburn.
Great location with site on 3 levels. Basic facilities compared to better CAMC sites but fine.
15 min walk into Leyburn so good pubs and Black Sheep served perfectly.....but just heard that brewery gone into administration!! So tried to drink as much as poss!!.
The pub in Harmby.....bottom of road is perfect....no food and cash only!! Check out the till!!
