It looks like this vehicle has a simple setup. Crank pulley, Alternator Pulley + belt.

No tensioner or idlers.

If I am wrong, let me know.

I have read several horror stories of auxilliary belts shredding and entangling with the timing belt?

Can this occur with this engine setup.

Reason for my concern.

On startup today (after sitting for a week with a low battery) I heard a rumble for about 2 seconds which sounded like some bearing, the belt screeched for about a second.

I am assuming this is due to a faulty alternator clutch / overrun pulley. How common is it for these to become faulty?
