Fiamma 6.5s awning drops slightly out of its rail

Evening all,
I hope no one else has had this issue, but wondering if I could check how people’s awnings are fitted.

My van has a Fiamma 65s wind out awning rail which is pretty snug with mm to spare just above the sliding door. Unfortunately, it keeps dropping slightly out of its ‘holder’ when it’s retracted and rolled in. (And yes, it is wound in tightly!)

It has rubbed the paintwork in the past which I had repaired and protective film put on both the leading edge of the awning and the van itself. But I keep having to check it and wind it back a smidge if needed before going anywhere as it’s such a tight tolerance in terms of height over the van.
I did have new brackets installed which were obtained from the Fiamma supplier for the lwb crafter but it seems they must droop over time, or just aren’t high enough.

My questions are - has anyone else had an issue, in which case how was it resolved?
And, anyone know if you can buy some protective pads to stick on the van which would prevent paintwork issues if it did drop a bit?

I’m at the point I’m thinking the awning isn’t worth it!

Thanks in advance as always.

Just put a 4mm strip of ptfe or abs between the roof and the brackets to raise the awning. That should fix it.

I had thought some shims under the brackets might help, but I was hoping to find a solution without having to book it in somewhere to get it done. Especially as I’ve already had new brackets on it.

Why not take it back to whoever fitted it, and explain/ demonstrate the flaw. That's what I would do if I paid for fitting.

Hi @Raul a/3
The original fitter is in Wales and the van was converted with the previous owner. The company I went to locally to me in Hampshire are no longer running so going back isn’t an option. To be fair they did comment on the time how close it was and had double checked with the bracket supplier that they were correct. They may even have fitted some shims but I’d have to climb up and look to confirm.

I was just curious to see of anyone else had the F65s fitted to a LWB and see what clearances people had really. Or if anyone had an awning that slowly works its way loose and needed winding back in at all. And if they had what steps had been taken to resolve it.
😊
