Rib bed?

Looking for info/suggestions on fitting a rib bed into my lwb 2019 crafter

I’ve got 2 young kids and thinking that it will work for both travelling seating and sleeping

I’m not sure I can justify the cost of new so will be looking out for 2nd hand so won’t be able to be fussy regards sizes, the 112cm seems most common but have only seen people fit 86cm in the crafters-is there a reason for this?

Also height wise do they need raising to improve the travelling position or are they height enough just on the ply floor?

Any input welcome 👍

I've no experience of RIB seats/beds but I would suggest that it will need raising so that the seat squab is the same height as a swiveled driver's seat and the width is governed by the space between the seat and what ever you install on the left side (sliding door side) of the van to enable passage between the bed and those fitments.
I have a factory front double seat fitted behind the driver's seat which is as close to the right side wall as possible to allow passage between my kitchen units and the seat.

I thought the same regards raising it but I’ve seen people online suggesting it sits pretty high? Not sure if that’s just in a transporter though with the lower head height

Like you I’ve picked up a passenger double with the plan of using a riser to match the front seat height but when I’ve put it in place and I’ve mapped out the beds around it suddenly the space isn’t as big as I’d hoped, hence the rib idea

Hi all, just searched and got this thread up, wondered if anyone else had fitted a 112 RIB in to a crafter at all? Like the OP I was thinking the same as I have a RIB in the T5 which I could possibly move if it works and as I’ve already swallowed the cost once lol!

I’m going to go a different route now instead of the rib -I think! The thing with the rib is you really need the 86cm wide for a crafter -if your using kitchen units down the side at least-these seem to be a fairly new product and as such I couldn’t find an 86cm used for sale at all-I wanted something used ideally just to save a few quid

My mates got a rib 112, also in a t5 and I tried it out-good bed good size and I think the rib system work well but I just couldn’t justify the cost of the 86cm new if I’m honest-it’s a fair bit smaller than the 112cm and is exactly the same system afaik but is a fair bit more expensive!

To answer your question if you didn’t want kitchen units down the side (over sliding door) then your 112 rib would work fine but if you plan on having kitchen there then it’d be too tight imo

Thanks D-87! I think I came to the same conclusions also that with the side kitchen it would be too tight. Back to the drawing board!
