rod_vw. did you ever find a solution to this please - my first challenge...I'm watching as well, I know that some convertors are doing it and fitting a Truma heater under it. The problem seems to be the left seat belt top mounting.
Anyone know a good safe fix for this?
I know that a LHD version of the double seat may provide an easier solution but not seen it yet.
I'm interested in seeing this if it works.Between me and my converter we have decided that two belt rollers will fit in the centre of the rear of the seat and work left and right with an extra belt receiver fitted.
This only applies to the seats without the fold down back rest.
I'll try to get some pictures before the rear trim is re-fitted.I'm interested in seeing this if it works.
I know this was some time ago, but how did you get on with this?I'll try to get some pictures before the rear trim is re-fitted.
Sorry, no I didn't get any pictures but I know my converter was impressed with the task!I know this was some time ago, but how did you get on with this?
I did this… used one from a Ford transit minibus. Sticking it behind the drivers seat meant accessing parts of the the floor pan for the bracing plates was pretty easy and only involved dropping the exhaust pipe and shielding off. I did have to raise the whole thing with some pretty serious steel tubing to make it the same height as the front seats. What about using a double seat that has inbuilt seat belts, perhaps from a minibus?
