Mixture of issues, some things replaced, issue remains

Hi guys, I am going out of my mind here.

A rat chewed a few cables, including a nox sensor, adblue injector, and my clock spring went at the same time (unrelated)… replaced adblue injector with second hand one, and it’s stuck closed (unlucky for me), replaced nox cable (solved), but this then left the glow plug flashing error but it started… Thursday came and it gained a fault where it wouldn’t start… when you turned ignition it would click a couple times and not start, more you did it.
Less it clicked. Replaced clock spring thinking that would help or resolve, it didn’t. Replaced battery as was low anyway, didn’t resolve, computer said starter motor mechanical fault stuck, so replaced starter motor today and it still comes up with the error… weirdly, opening the bonnet seems to reset it and it will start again…

I have no idea what the problem is, and I’ve spent £1200 with mechanics who don’t seem to have a clue (vw specialist)…

Any help or advice really appreciated please

Battery needs coding after replacement so the ecu knows it works with afresh battery.
How important is the coding? I'm not sure, but it may help with glow plugs relay timing issue.
Please keep us posted with your progress.
