Hi all,
I’m reaching out for help with a persistent issue on my 2018 VW Crafter (DAUA engine). I run a mobile valeting business, and this van is my livelihood. It’s been off the road for 3 weeks now and I’m at breaking point – so any advice would be massively appreciated.
The Problem:
The van keeps going into limp mode randomly. Some days it drives perfectly, and other days it can go into limp mode 3+ times. A quick ignition cycle (turning it off and back on) clears the issue temporarily.
What’s Been Done So Far:

Where I’m At:
I’m out of ideas, funds are tight, and I’m losing customers daily as I can’t work. The garages I’ve used have gone above and beyond, and we’re all stumped. I can’t afford to take it to a main dealer.
If anyone has experienced something similar or has any suggestions at all, please share your thoughts. I’ll be forever grateful – and if you're anywhere near Manchester, I’ll happily valet your car for free for life if you help me crack this at the moment the van is very close to becoming a non run and ill have no option but to sell it and change jobs as money will just run out.
Thanks in advance,
Tom

The van keeps going into limp mode randomly. Some days it drives perfectly, and other days it can go into limp mode 3+ times. A quick ignition cycle (turning it off and back on) clears the issue temporarily.
What’s Been Done So Far:
- Initial Diagnostic: Fault pointed to Injector 3.
- Injector 3 replaced with a reconditioned unit from PF Jones – no change.
- Swapped Injector 2 and Injector 3 – fault still shows on Injector 3.
- Injector loom tested – all readings GOOD.
- ECU sent away and swapped/tested – came back GOOD.
- Sent to a second garage who wanted to replace all injectors – but we know the injectors are good and have been tested.
- Code P214900 Group b, Supply Voltage Open
Additional Info:
- No fault codes appearing in VCDS.
- Issue feels electrical – maybe something is back-feeding or intermittently losing signal between Injector 3 and the ECU.
- The van can go days or weeks without a single issue, then suddenly start playing up again for no apparent reason.
