Be aware...no captive nuts in the roof.

Folks,

It may be common knowledge... but not for me it wasn't.
I come to fit a Fiamma 80s 3.2m using the van specific mounts expecting to find a captive nut under the OEM covers...guess what, no nuts, just holes through to the interior of the van....which by now is fitted out, carpet lined and cupboards built. None of the Fiamma dealers or fitters mentioned this in the last 3 months of talking to them.

That would be an improvement if captive nuts were affixed to the vehicles, I'm dealing with this too. Luckily I'm halfway through insulation and can still get to the inside to place nuts/rings.

There is a void but only an 8mm hole. Then the size of toggle in my opinion would be worrying. The canopy is 35kg and the dynamics when its wound open would worry me personally. The same at 80mph on a Spanish motorway. I've sorted mine now but the thread is more for information. Theres loads of ways to get the Fiamma onto the roof but only 1 that is as per VW and Fiamma warranties....and that's bolt through. 👍🏻
