Aftermarket wheel choices

We have a Westfalia Sven Hedin on order and it comes with 16" black steel wheels as standard and I just don't know whether to replace them with 17" alloys although that's a cost I could do without but will the van look right on those 16" wheels? Also if we were away and got a puncture there is no spare wheel so I just wonder are 16" and 17" tyres with the right load bearing stocked by normal tyre places?

I have had two Svens. The first was on steel wheels, my current one is on the factory alloys. Personally, I thought the steel wheels looked fine.7ACB69A1-3694-45BE-B680-1A74F8950B57.jpeg

That's good to know as ours comes with 16" steel wheels we have ordered the exact same colour as yours it looks fab in grey our wheels are black

I tried a set of bigger steels when I first got mine, these were tuff torque wheels that I had powder coated black and wrapped in Michelin cross latitudes.

Fitted fine but found them a bit chunky looking, reverted back to original steels again done in black with Nokian weatherproofs, very pleased.

A lot of the supposedly Crafter aftermarket wheels are T5/6 wheels as the same pcd. The offsets are not ideal for Crafter though meaning they stick out too far.

And originals VW wheels re done with better tyres. Found the original continentals lacked grip particularly in the wet. Will probably go for Agilis cross climates next time but the Nokians have been a good all rounder.

Hi Jack,
These tuff torques look good. Do you know the spec of wheels and tyres please? Trying to source the same.

Cheers
Tom

The Tuff Torques were a 17” x 8” from memory, they were a very close match to the originals just bigger, tyres were 245/65.

Don’t think you will find a set though as they were old stock end of line. Think they were only 40quid a wheel because of it.

Now on factory wheels (powder coated black) with Michelin Cross Climates and they are ace. Get my vote every time.

Hi All,
I have spare steel wheels with winter tires of my T6, will they fit my new crafter? According to my research so far, they would. Is that correct?

I went with tuff torques in black 235 65 Cooper adventurer I think they are called ,17x8 they fit really nicely and the tires just tuck inside the man arch extensions and they look clean and are easy to clean took a few weeks to get in as they are back ordering
