When to change the cambelt?

2018 Crafter, 51k miles

What’s the official recommendation please?

I asked my dealer that very question when my clutch was being replaced last year and he said according to VW it needs changing at 130k or 9 years, he went on to say that by then I would probably have gotten a new vehicle so it should not be an issue, however, if I was going to keep the van long term (which I am) I should forget the reccomended milage/interval and do it at 70k or 5 years.

5 years or 120k km I been told in Germany. Got it done in there, and the original continental belt looked pretty knackered. Stretched, and few small cracks. This was couple of years ago at 90k miles.

If it was me, anything more than 5 years, I would get it done.

There are so many different opinions out there, but the consensus seems to be 5yrs.
