About to start conversion on 2024 commerce plus. Always had Caravelle seats in our T6s, can these fit on above Crafter standard single seat bases. Also if swapping from.2+1 fronts will anything else need modification. Fitting swivels to will these fitted crafter bases and T6 seats... next up will be wiring of heated seats. 🤔

A couple of points about changing the seats in a '24 onwards model Crafter / TGE.

  • Whilst many folks are changing from the OEM seats to others my thoughts have always been. Are the replacement seats and their mountings acceptable to your insurance company with regard to their crash testing? It's a very grey area and the consequences of what could happen in an accident are not something any of us wish to contemplate.

  • The other point is that the seatbelt / airbag warning wiring of post 2023 models is changed from previous years and somewhat more complex. A quick check to see if yours are the later version you will have a red 17 way connector under the double seat with eight wires in it (more if you have heated seats etc) and the driver's seat will have a similar one with four wires. The older wiring only has two wires connecting either seat. If you have the later version DO NOT remove the 17 way connector and switch on the ignition whilst it's removed. If you do you will have an airbag warning which cannot be re-set without plugging in to diagnostic equipment. As for changing the later double for a single I don't know the answer to achieving the necessary wiring change and if you plan to put a swivel under the double (R&J swivel etc) then the seat belt loom requires lengthening. I'm in the process of making 'plug & play' extensions for this.

I am looking at doing this on our van, amongst everything else so it’s all about costs and what most important first but did you switch out the seats 3crispies? Can I ask where you bought your bases and swivels too? I’ve historically bought from Jennings ( I think) but it’s good to have options, if there are any.

As regards your point rod_vw I am pondering whether to switch in some vw golf seats or simply something a little more supportive. I’m not overly impressed with the cloth seat in our 23 plate. I guess/assume the seat base will be similar and a fairly straight swop, something I need to investigate further before buying any seats.

If anyone has any opinion or experience please let me know.

With regard to the available swivels you may like to look at CJ Leisure as I believe they have introduced a new single seat swivel along with their new offering for a double swivel.

Additional to my comment above, I am now able to offer a seventeen way Plug & Play extension for VW / MAN seat wiring looms. DM me for more info.
